La Maison Du Jour

Life. Styled.

photosensitized

Patrick Nagel 1945 - 1984 famous for his art deco approach to fashion illustration and known for his contributions to playboy magazine.  He created his art by starting with a photograph and removing what was unnecessary in an image.  no computers no adobe create suite, all done freehand under the hood of a lucigraph (for those who remember that amazing machine).  Unfortunately I never got the chance to study under him whilst he was an instructor at Art Center.  He was found dead in his car, the result of a heart attack after attending an Aerobathon for the American Heart Association.
